Purpose of projectThe purpose of this project is to help people understand how they can help and educate them about no-kill shelters and why all shelters should be no-kill to a certain extent. What are no kill-shelters?No-kill shelters are shelters that do not euthanize animals that are healthy and have a chance to be adopted. There are many no-kill shelters that do what ever they can to make animals healthy and adopt. There are places who have specialist who help train dogs who might not be calm enough to be in a household. Sometimes animals are so unhealthy or can not be tamed so they have to put them down. Problem with shelters who state to be "no-kill"There are many shelters that state to be no-kill but they do kill the animals they have in their shelters. These shelters don't try hard enough to keep animals in their care. If animals show aggression after only a couple months of training they would start to consider to put some animals down. Another problem with these kinds of shelters is they euthanize kittens under 8 weeks old. The reason for this is because shelters think kittens under 8 weeks take up to much space because you can not spay kittens until they are 8 weeks of age and for any animal to be adoptable they need to be spayed. Which means you would have to take care of kittens you might not have the time to take care of for 8 weeks just so a shelter wont kill them. Another problem with these kind of shelters it makes you start to question "Are other shelters pretending to be no-kill?"
If all shelters were no-killIf all shelters were no-kill it would make it so much better for other people. Then people wouldn't have to worry about the animals they take to shelters or how animals are treated at the shelters. If all shelters were no kill to a extent it would mean happy, healthy, and adoptable dogs wouldn't have to be put down unless there was no hope for them left and the shelters have done all they can. What can you do?There are many things you can do to help out your local no-kill shelters. It can be as simple as volunteering at an animal shelter or even donating some money. You can even recommend shelters to some friends who are thinking about adopting animals. Fundraisers and Shelters in the Coachella Valleyhttps://animalsamaritans.org (No kill)
